Jorge Mejia

Acupuncture Physician

Some paths in life look very straight and clear. Others take a more circuitous shape.

Dr. Jorge’s path looks like neither of these.

In fact, his time spent in theater, politics and the restaurant industry don’t naturally make one think of Chinese medicine, but each of these life experiences has contributed hugely to the type of practitioner Jorge is today.

While it’s certain that his study abroad experience in China and his four years of post-graduate study at the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in San Francisco have given him the tools of the trade, it’s his bedside manner and his ability to connect with his patients that make him the practitioner that everyone loves at Family Tree.

“My goal is to lead by example. I’m constantly working on slowing down and aligning myself with the flow of nature.”

His unique internship experiences in San Francisco combined with over 16 years of clinical practice have given him expertise in the areas of internal medicine, stress management, chronic and acute musculoskeletal pain, and autoimmune/inflammatory diseases.

He’s pretty much a jack of all trades.

“My goal as a practitioner is to empower patients to take control of their health, and to listen and trust their body.”

As devoted as he is to his patients and the practice of Chinese medicine, he balances his work with family time, travel, surfing, and playing the guitar. A lover of all languages, landscapes, foods and cultures, his lifestyle emulates the principles of Chinese medicine. He doesn’t just talk the talk. He walks the walk…a natural born healer, through and through.
